This offering consists of 18 canine cancer cell lines generated from tumor biopsies of patients treated at the CSU Flint Animal Cancer Center. Several rare cancer types are represented in the collection.
18 canine cancer cell lines were generated from tumor biopsies of dogs. The types of cancers represented include melanoma, osteosarcoma, mammary carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, bronchoalveolar carcinoma, thyroid follicular cell adenocarcinoma, soft tissue sarcoma, squamous cell carcinoma, histiocyticsarcoma, gastric adenocarcinoma, and colonic adenocarcinoma.
Cell lines are a crucial tool in oncology research and drug screening. Investigators at the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Flint Animal Cancer Center have developed a series of canine cancer cell lines from tumor biopsies, including rare tumors of the GI tract and lungs. These cells lines are valuable for identifying drug and immunotherapy targets for new canine therapeutics, as well as for comparison with analogous human cancer cell lines.
