CSU Strata is currently accepting applicants for funding available through the Advanced Industries Proof of Concept Grant Program, a vital initiative that brings CSU innovations one step closer to market. With awards of up to $130,000, the program supports early-stage technologies that have strong commercial potential and can drive economic impact across Colorado’s key industries. The application period is open from July 7 through Aug. 4.
Funded by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and managed by CSU Strata, the program helps bridge the gap between academic research and commercial viability. More than $6 million in funding has been allocated to CSU under the AI POC program, funding over 70 CSU research projects since its launch.
In a time when research funding is increasingly competitive and difficult to secure, this program continues to serve as a critical pipeline for innovation.
“This funding remains a vital resource for CSU innovators working to bring transformative technologies to market,” said Richard Magid, Vice President of Technology Transfer at CSU Strata. “In the face of reduced overall funding, we remain committed to supporting commercialization and advancing innovations that drive economic growth in Colorado.”
Last year, five CSU research teams were awarded a combined $669,150 through the program. Projects eligible for this year’s funding must align with one or more of the state’s seven advanced industries: aerospace, advanced manufacturing, bioscience, electronics, energy and natural resources, infrastructure engineering, and technology and information.
To apply, eligible CSU faculty should register by Aug.4 for a 15-minute presentation slot at which they will provide a summary of their project concept. Based on the presentations, selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposals to CSU Strata. All projects must have a 1:3 cash match for the requested OEDIT funding.
Those interested in applying are encouraged to register to attend an upcoming information session to learn more about the process and get tips on strengthening their presentations.
