Jessica Trostel, ME, MLS

Director of Intellectual Property Strategy
Jessica joined CSU STRATA in 2018 to support the Colorado State University System’s technology transfer team in both licensing efforts and the protection of intellectual property. In 2021, Jessica became the Director of Intellectual Property Strategy to lead the development of the system’s extensive intellectual property portfolio, with a focus on unique protection strategies to maximize the value and impact of commercialized matters. Jessica is our resident intellectual property expert and technical specialist in biomedical devices/materials, life sciences, and engineering. She holds a double BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in Boulder, a BS in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, an MLS in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Colorado Law School, and an ME in Biomedical Engineering from Colorado State University. Jessica is a recipient of the 2021 Howard Bremer Scholarship presented by AUTM and awarded to those who—like Howard Bremer— wish to bring creativity and innovation to the academic technology transfer profession. She is also a member of the AUTM Public Policy Legal Task Force committee.
