Broadly, Dr. Yourdkhani’s research is focused on developing next generation, multifunctional polymers and composite materials that exhibit revolutionary manufacturability, performance, and longevity. The impact of the work can enable unprecedented manufacturing of aerospace and automotive structural components, autonomous restoration of functional integrity in biomedical, structural, energy, and coating materials, programmable anisotropic deformations for soft actuators, and evolvable material properties for biomedical devices. Yourdkani’s research is highly interdisciplinary and spans several engineering and scientific disciplines including advanced manufacturing, materials science, mechanics, and chemistry.
