Chantz Smith is the Ranch Manager for the Maxwell Ranch and is integral to the daily operation and management of the property. He focuses on optimizing ranch assets to create a model 21st-century working cattle ranch that supports Colorado State University.

Chantz is responsible for key daily decisions related to budgeting, herd health, breeding, range use, and cattle marketing. He ensures consistent humane animal handling practices are maintained across all operations. Chantz also assists in the authorization and implementation of research and student involvement projects conducted on the ranch or involving the herd, serving the university’s educational and research mission.
